How to Make Slime Less Sticky?

Making slime is a creative and enjoyable hobby. However, it can be ruined by sticky slime. Playing with sticky slime is challenging. It likes to stick to hands, surfaces, and other objects. So, how to make slime less sticky?

Fortunately, removing sticky slime is easy and frequently involves utilizing everyday home objects. To guarantee that you always get smooth, elastic, and non-sticky slime, Méli&Mélo explains how to make slime less sticky with these three DIY methods - with or without an activator.

Method 1: Fixing Sticky Slime

Add Baking Soda

  • Sprinkle your slime with ½ teaspoons (2 g) of baking soda.

  • Blend it well into the slime until it becomes less sticky.

  • Add another ⅛ teaspoons (½ g) and knead again if it's still sticky.

  • Do not use too much baking soda, as this will reduce the stretchiness of your slime.

Use Contact Solution

  • Drizzle one teaspoon (5 mL) of contact solution in the slime and mix well.

  • If an additional ¼ teaspoon (1 ¼ mL) is needed, add it until the slime is no longer sticky.

  • Be careful, as too much contact solution may make the slime rubbery.

  • If liquid starch was used to make your slime, use more of it.

Try Baby Oil

  • Add one teaspoon (5 milliliters) of baby oil to your slime. This will give your slime a sparkly sheen and lessen its stickiness. Mix it well.

  • Don't add more than is advised, as this will make the slime less flexible and goopy.

Knead the Slime

Sometimes, the stickiness can be removed by just kneading the slime. To ensure that the components mix well, press, stretch, and fold the slime many times. This method removes stickiness without the need for extra ingredients.

Prepare the Glue Base

  • Add eight tablespoons (120 mL) of white school glue to a mixing bowl.

  • If you want multicolored slime, add two to three drops of food coloring and mix until well combined.

Add Shaving Cream

  • Add 1½ cups (360 g) of shaving cream and stir.

  • Use the foamy variety for optimal effects.

  • Although your slime may still be sticky at this point, this will give it a fluffy texture.

Add Contact Solution

  • Stirring, slowly add 2 ½ teaspoons (37 ½ mL) of contact solution.

  • Keep going until the slime starts to separate from the bowl's sides.

  • If necessary, apply little quantities of contact solution as you knead it until the stickiness disappears.

Storage

To keep your done slime fresh for one to two days, store it in an airtight container.

Combine Baking Soda Solution

After adding one teaspoon (5 mL) of the baking soda solution, stirring after each addition, the slime should become less sticky.
